This brief was called 'The Spaces Between' and I chose to look at how words can act as a means to bridge the spaces between people, classes and times. I looked at many examples of how words aid to close the gap between helplessness and power. My response to this brief was show how in the past, spoken word and song have been used as a catalyst for social change. Looking back, these words and songs illustrate to us the times in which they were written, and what they were written for. Words can be extremely powerful and in response to this brief I wanted to show the most compelling instances in which they were used. I did this by using expressive text, hidden words and provided tools to show the reader the real meaning behind well known song lyrics.
